Thanos infinity gauntlet snap3/1/2024 Despite his assistance, Thanos has been shown to lose his patience with Druig, temporarily killing him, as well as repeatedly insulting him, calling the Eternal a “dilettante” and a “lickspittle,” and comparing him unfavorably to Mephisto. Seeing an opportunity to earn Thanos’ approval and, eventually, power over him, Druig stole Phastos’ memory of how to make the titan self-destruct and helped elect Thanos to the role of Prime Eternal following his murder of the Eternals’ leader Zuras. When the Snap and other displays of power fail to win her over, Mephisto convinces Thanos to fight the Avengers with only one Infinity Gem to demonstrate his bravery. Back in the original Infinity Gauntlet storyline from 1991, Mephisto acted as Thanos’ advisor after he assembled all the Infinity Gems, both in his battle against Marvel’s heroes and his romantic pursuit of Mistress Death, who he hoped to impress by killing half of all life in the universe.
